Corvid Courses

A Corvid College course is either teacher-centered or book/thing-centered.

  • Teacher-centered means the course is organized around an idea selected by the teacher; these courses may join up under common themes, but most are free-standing.
  • Book-centered means each course is organized around classic works of human intelligence.

Courses requiring teachers Propose courses that you'd like to see taught by someone.

Independent studies A second role of teachers in the college is to serve as assistants for student-designed independent studies or researches.

Sequences or constellations Teachers may also organize, alone or together, sequences or constellations of courses to provide in-depth exposure, training or analysis in one discipline or area. These are idiosyncratic, and not necessarily permanent fixtures in the curriculum. Students are invited to propose such constellations to teachers if there is sympathy between interest and expertise.

Courses first exist in a proposal stage, and during that time teachers welcome feedback from potential students. By the time of the Hoedown to begin each term, courses are more finished in their design.

Enrollment in courses can occur at any time.
