In this hands-on course, students will learn how to buy, roast, and enjoy coffee. They will investigate the Fair trade movement and how it has changed over the years. They will focus on the skillful crafting of coffee in one's house.
We will also formulate the ethics of coffee, using a multidimensional team research approach and an economics of flow.
We will use the social practices of coffee as a means of developing a philosophy of social life, which might in turn influence coffee and other practices.
Method/Procedures: shared inquiry, close reading of philosophical system, phenomenology, participatory social research
