Anarchy In The Kitchen: Homebrewing And Home Economics

IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN INCLUDED ON THE EMAIL CHAIN AS OF FEBRUARY 13th, PLEASE CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR, seatac11 via gmail .

Living Food for Living Bodies! This class is about the creation and cultivation of several exotic foods, focusing on fermented drinks and edibles, as well as cheap group meals.

First we'll make beer, then we'll move on to kefir (a drinkable yogurt that traces its lineage to Genghis Khan's armies), kombucha (a slightly alcoholic flavored tea. Special guest lecturer!), different kinds of sauerkraut, and Japanese style pickles (nukazuke, 糠漬け). If people have an interest in more brewing, we can also make Kvass, a sweet Russian soda.

Beyond that we'll also make Chinese style potstickers as a group activity and finish up the class with a super-secret project that will let us take our kitchen skills out into the streets to bring color and energy into the urban environment.
