Anarchism And Religion An Overview

This course will look at the ways in which religion has expressed itself politically, whether by validating political power (theocracy, divine right, post-millenialism) or subverting it (Ghandi, Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther King Jr.). We will examine the role of religion in establishing political philosophies and offices, as well as its role in political dissent and revolution. We will analyze how religion deals with power and what ways religion may be used for political change.
